Welcome
to the Cultural Association of Brazilian Arts, Inc.
We
believe that young people, regardless of their social circumstances,
can become focused, fit and confident with the right extracurricular
activity.
The
Cultural Association of Brazilian Arts, Inc., or Caoba,
offers workshops and classes in traditional Brazilian dance
and music, as well as the increasingly popular martial arts
form known as Capoeira.
Capoeira develops and improves discipline, physical strength,
health, coordination, flexibility, self-esteem, and musicality.
Caobart seeks to broaden these qualities to other areas
of a young person’s life, such as school, relationships
at home, social interaction with peers and with authority
figures.
We believe that once a person achieves milestones physically
and emotionally, that person will acquire the self-love
and self-pride to make positive choices about his or her
health and social life.
We
believe such things based on remarkable changes we have
witnessed in young people who began Caoba programs with
health and social challenges, and overcame them with tenacity
and confidence, eventually becoming role models for other
youth.
Caoba programs have been developed at a vast array of public institutions including public schools, juvenile detention centers, summer youth camps, and the United Nations. Caoba's mission for today's youth would not be possible if not for our dedicated supporters. To view our supporters or to support Caoba yourself, please visit our Donations page.
